MENR Minister: Numerous mineral-thermal water deposits discovered in Karabakh

From 2022, the main priority is to hold auctions, including in the liberated areas, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Mukhtar Babayev said at an event on the development of the mining sector, reforms, and new financial mechanisms.

The Minister said that in order to meet the needs of these projects for mineral resources, the remaining reserves of mineral deposits in the liberated areas are being explored, and geological exploration and prospecting assessments are being carried out in potential deposits: "It will serve to enrich the country's mineral resource base and the development of the mining industry in the region. From this point of view, it is crucial to reintegrate our liberated territories into the country's economy by attracting local and foreign investments, and to ensure economic activity here."

Babayev stressed that various geological-exploration works were realized in the Karabakh region: "Numerous ore, non-ore, construction, and building materials, drinking, mineral-thermal water deposits, and manifestations were discovered, of which 167 deposits were included in the Mineral Resources Base. We have many different types of mineral resources in these fields, which will provide the domestic consumer market of the republic and even be exported to foreign markets. As a result of geological exploration work in the region, I believe that new mineral deposits will be discovered, which will significantly increase this potential. I hope that reforms will be continued to develop the mining sector. Therefore, the support of entrepreneurs to the reforms and their activities under the established legislation is significant. Our joint activities will mark a new stage in improving this area."
