Kura, Araz rivers to see 20% drop in water volume by century's end

By the end of the century, the water volume in the Kura and Araz rivers will decrease by about 20%, UN Development Program project manager Zaur Aliyev said during his speech at the II Meteorological Forum of the Turkic World in Baku, Report informs.

“According to forecasts, the volume of water in the Kura and Araz rivers, as well as in the rivers of the Lesser Caucasus, will decrease by 10% by 2040, by 15% by 2070, and by 20% by 2098. In rivers flowing through the territory of the Greater Caucasus and the Lankaran-Astara region, the water volume will decrease by 5, 10, and 15%, respectively,” he said.
