Humanity to face serious water shortage in next decade

UNESCO predicts a global water scarcity in less than a decade, Report informs referring to the data published on the organization's website.

According to the estimates, by 2030, humanity will face a global water shortage of 40%.

The organization noted that other global problems will only exacerbate the situation.

According to UNESCO, the global crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic has made the problem of providing the population with water more obvious. Currently, more than two billion people do not have direct access to this vital resource.

The authors of the UNESCO report believe that in the modern world not enough efforts are made to conserve water resources. In this regard, the organization calls for the development of a model that takes into account not only the market value but also the potential benefits from the distribution of water resources.
