Helicopters deployed to fight fire in Azerbaijan's Shaki

The "112" hotline of the Ministry of Emergency Situations received information about a fire in the mountainous area near the village of Kish, the Shaki region.

Report informs that the State Fire Protection Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) fire protection units were immediately sent to the area upon receiving the information.

The Civil Defense troops of the MES, relevant forces of the North-West Regional Center, and two helicopters of the Aviation detachment were involved in the firefighting measures to speed up the firefighting operations and prevent it from spreading to a broader area, taking into account the complex terrain of the site. Currently, firefighting operations are ongoing.

A fire broke out in a thicket in the forest near the village of Kish in the Sheki region, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, Irada Ibrahimova, told Report.

According to her, since the fire took place in a mountainous area with complex terrain, there were difficulties bringing equipment to the area: "The fire is mainly extinguished manually. Currently, up to 100 employees of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources local bodies and representatives of the State Fire Protection Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations are involved in extinguishing the fire."

Ibrahimova has called on holidaymakers who prefer spending time on the lap of nature to be cautious and understand the responsibility since wildfires are severe and dangerous.
