Four bison calves born in Azerbaijan’s Shahdag National Park

Over the past two weeks, four bison calves were born in the Ismayilli section of the Shahdag National Park in Azerbaijan, representative of the Biodiversity Protection Service of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources Arzu Babayeva told journalists, Report informs.

She noted that since 2010, projects have been launched in Azerbaijan to reintroduce a number of declining animal species.

“Since 2019, 36 European bison have been brought here from France, Belgium and Germany. After a certain period of keeping in a closed enclosure, the bison were released into the wild. Currently, there is an increase in the population of bison, their total number has reached 45,” she added.
