Endangered deer species to be transferred to Lesser Caucasus

It is planned to increase the number of red deer included in the Red Book (of Threatened Species) in the Greater Caucasus and move them to the territory of the Lesser Caucasus, Firuddin Aliyev, head of the Biological Diversity Protection Service of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, told a local TV, Report informs.

According to Firuddin Aliyev, preliminary steps are already being taken in this direction.

“It is planned to capture them and increase their number. There are also plans to gradually increase the number of other animal species,” he added.
