Decrease in fish population in Caspian Sea associated with climate change

The decrease in the fish population in the Caspian Sea is not due to poaching but to climate change, Mehman Akhundov, head of the Department for the Protection of Bioresources of Water Basins of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan, told the international conference "Caspian Sea Level Fluctuations in Climate Change, Forecasts and Adaptation Measures" in Baku.

According to him, there is a change in the water level in the Caspian Sea.

He urged to stop the construction of dams on the rivers, otherwise, the Caspian Sea may suffer the fate of the Aral Sea.
