Caspian Sea level may drop by 8-10 meters in future, expert warns

In the coming years, the water level of the Caspian Sea is projected to decrease by a staggering 8-10 meters, depending on various climate scenarios, according to Rafig Verdiyev, Deputy Head of the Environmental Policy Department at Azerbaijan's Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources.

According to Report, speaking during the "Water and Gender Equality" conference held at ADA University, Verdiyev said that to address this looming crisis, Azerbaijan is currently developing a national program for adaptation to climate change.

"As part of this program, measures are envisaged to prevent the reduction of water resources in the future due to climate change, as well as activities for the efficient use of water resources and improving water supply in all spheres," Verdiyev explained.
