The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is committed to addressing the impacts of climate change, ADB Vice President for Administration and Corporate Management Bruce Gosper said at an event on “Sustainable Procurement – Contributing to ADB’s Climate Mitigation and Adaptation Goals” within the 57th annual meeting of the bank, according to Report’s correspondent from Tbilisi.
He noted that ADB has set itself the goal of becoming the climate bank of the region.
Sustainable procurement can play a key role in ensuring the ADB gives communities the opportunity to get more value for their money, he said.
Gosper also stressed that the bank is doing a lot of work in procurement, adding that it facilitates policy dialogue, provides financial commitments, but procurement can have a much more fundamental transformative impact if it contributes in different ways to the resilience of economies.
