Azerbaijani rivers on rise after torrential downpours

The abundant rainfall that has drenched Azerbaijan in recent days has led to a notable increase in water levels across several of the country's rivers, according to Asif Verdiyev, Director of the Hydrology Center at the National Hydrometeorological Service, Report informs.

Verdiyev reported that the water level at the Giragkasaman point in the upper reaches of the Kur River has risen by 6 centimeters. Additionally, rivers flowing from the Greater Caucasus, Karabakh, and East Zangazur regions have also experienced elevated water levels. The Garasuchay River saw a 10-centimeter increase, while the Guruchay River rose by 11 centimeters and the Bargushadchay River by 2 centimeters. In the Lankaran-Astara region, the Tangarudchay River's water level climbed by 2 centimeters.

The National Hydrometeorological Service had previously announced that the majority of Azerbaijan's regions are expected to remain precipitation-free on October 29.
