Environmental protection has always been one of the main tasks of Azerbaijan. In this regard, green development and green energy are priorities, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan Mukhtar Babayev said at an event in Shusha dedicated to the 30th anniversary of partnership between Azerbaijan and the UN, Report informs.
He noted that Azerbaijan intends to develop green energy in the liberated territories, and during their restoration, the main focus is on providing the population with clean drinking water.
The minister expressed concern about the pollution of the transboundary river Okhchuchay, which poses a great danger to the ecosystem of the entire region.
Mukhtar Babayev also noted that another priority for Azerbaijan is the development of renewable energy sources, as well as the creation of a "net zero emissions" zone.
"The support of international organizations is important for the recovery of the liberated territories," he added.
