Azerbaijan to construct new reservoirs

In Azerbaijan, there are more than 140 reservoirs that contain about 21.9 billion cubic meters of water, Mutallim Abdulhasanov, head of the Water Resources Management Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, said at the Expert Hour.

Report informs that, according to him, there are enough water reserves in the existing reservoirs: "Rainfall scarcity has recently led to a decline in water. As part of the measures taken, it was possible to stabilize the reserve water.

The head of the department said that the relevant order of the President envisages the reconstruction of 10 reservoirs or the construction of new ones:

"Feasibility study of these reservoirs is being prepared. Their construction will begin in the coming years," he said.
