Air temperature exceeded climate norm by 14 degrees C in early February

In the first ten days of February, 22-24 degrees Celsius was observed in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, and up to 22 degrees Celsius in the regions of Azerbaijan, which is 2-14 degrees above the climate norm, the head of the National Hydrometeorology Service Nazim Mahmudov said, according to Report.

According to him, the abnormally hot weather conditions were affected by the warm air currents entering the country from the south.

“The moderate weather observed in the country in the first ten days of February was more reminiscent of spring than winter. Against the backdrop of moderate southern winds, the air temperature was 2-14 degrees above the climate norm. Long-term meteorological observations and analyses show that in previous years similar abnormally hot weather was also observed in February. The air temperature in Baku and on the Absheron Peninsula in the same period last year reached 21 degrees Celsius, in 2021 - 22 degrees Celsius, and in 2020 - 25 degrees Celsius,” Mahmudov said.
