In a statement to Report, Adviser to the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Rasim Sattarzada said that next year Azerbaijan will once again declare that it has chosen green development, Report informs.
According to Sattarzada, the declaration of 2024 the Green World Solidarity Year means that the country's leadership pays serious attention to the issues of environment, ecological safety, and climate change: "Also, Azerbaijan calls the international community for solidarity and cooperation in this field. This also shows that the issues of environmental issues playing an important role in Azerbaijan's development strategy and economic development programs are already being considered at the international level."
Rasim Sattarzada noted that the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) was decided to be held in Baku next year by the unanimous opinion of all the countries of the world. It shows that Azerbaijan has been able to show and recognize its obligations and its efforts to reduce its impact on climate change at the international level.
"The countries of the world also evaluated it positively. This is an indicator of the image of Azerbaijan at the international level. I think that next year, as in other years, Azerbaijan will once again declare that it has chosen green development. Also, it will implement more effective, large-scale measures in the direction of improving the environment, protecting ecosystems, and reducing climate impacts. It will be proven that Azerbaijan applies modern technologies to prevent greenhouse gas emissions. Our country is making efforts to expand alternative energy sources, ensure energy efficiency and minimize environmental impacts in all areas," the adviser said.
