Yerevan silent for five months on transfer of deceased Armenian woman’s body, Azerbaijani official says

Armenia has remained silent for almost five months regarding the transfer of the body of an Armenian woman who passed away in Khankandi, Deputy Chief of Azerbaijan's State Security Service (SSS), Lieutenant General Sharafat Hasanov, said during the presentation of the Assessment Report on the Search for Missing Persons in the Republic of Azerbaijan, prepared by the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP).

Report quotes him as saying the Armenian side and the relatives of the deceased, Vera Varashakovna Agasyan (born in 1954), who passed away from illness on October 20, 2024, at her residence in Khankandi, were notified through the International Committee of the Red Cross.

"All necessary documents for the transfer of the body have been completed, and during a border meeting without intermediaries in February of this year, the issue was directly conveyed to the Armenian delegation. Despite this, Armenia has not provided any comments on the matter for nearly five months," Hasanov noted.
