Currently, the proportion of women in municipal commissions is close to 39%, Tofig Hasanov, Executive Director of the Legal Research Center Public Union, said at a conference on "Strengthening the work of gender commissions established in municipalities," Report informs.
According to Hasanov, although only 22 municipalities had female chairs after the initial elections, this number is now increasing:
"Although the number of women in municipalities has increased, their percentage of working on a permanent basis is low. In the future, when gender commissions are established in municipalities, the number of women working on a permanent basis should be increased. We need to reveal their potential."
