Witnesses of Meshali genocide appeal to international community

Witnesses of the Meshali genocide have appealed to the international community, Report informs.

“We, the locals of the Meshali village of the Khojaly district, know the war criminal Vagif Khachaturyan, who was recently detained on the Lachin road. His hands are in the blood of peaceful people - babies, women, the elderly.

For 32 years, not a single international organization got interested in the genocide committed against us in Meshali, not a single human rights organization protested against Armenia, they treated us as if nothing had happened. They did not see or hear of such a tragedy, we know very well that they did not want to see or hear about it."

Vagif Khachaturyan, as part of the Armenian military formations, organized a massacre of Azerbaijanis in the Meshali village of the Khojaly district on December 22, 1991.

During the massacre, 25 Azerbaijanis were killed, 14 injured, and 358 Azerbaijanis became refugees. It was decided to bring Vagif Cherkezovich Khachaturyan to justice under Articles 103 (genocide) and 107 (deportation or forced resettlement) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

As part of this criminal case, on July 29, he was detained by the servicemen of the State Border Service of Azerbaijan at the Lachin border checkpoint of the Azerbaijani-Armenian state border while trying to leave for Armenia for treatment through the mediation of the International Committee of the Red Cross. By a court decision, a measure of restraint in the form of arrest was chosen against him.
