UN: No such a threat is seen since World War II

We have not experienced a pandemic like this or faced such a threat since the Second World War, UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan Gulam Ishaqzai told a briefing of the Task Force under the Cabinet of Ministers, Report.says.

“Currently, the virus does not target any particular country but spreads across borders. Therefore, the UN Secretary-General urged to display global solidarity. Governments will not be able to win on their own, without the support of societies. For that reason, everyone must realize their responsibility,” he emphasized.

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) emerged in late 2019 in China’s Hubei province, and the virus has spread to more than 200 countries and territories since then.

To date, COVID-19 cases surpassed 9,565,000 globally, resulting in more than 5,206,000 recoveries and over 485,000 deaths.

On February 11, the WHO officially named the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) as COVID-19, and on March 11, declared it a pandemic.
