UN-Habitat executive-director to visit Azerbaijan

The Executive Director of the United Nations Settlement Program (UN-Habitat) will visit Azerbaijan on Friday to promote inclusive, safe, continuous, and sustainable urban development in the country, as well as to strengthen ties with the UN agency she is in charge of.

Her visit coincides with the 5th Ethnosports Forum, which is dedicated to the revival of traditional sports.

During the three-day visit, Maimunah Mohd Sharif will hold bilateral talks with President Ilham Aliyev, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Mukhtar Babayev, Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov, Chairman of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture Anar Quliyev and other officials.

UN-Habitat Executive Director will also visit Aghdam, where she will get acquainted with the reconstruction work carried out by the Azerbaijani government on urban planning.
