Historic and residential buildings destroyed in Shusha during the years of occupation are a bitter example of the impact of conflicts on cities, Farid Shafiyev, Chairman of the Center of Analysis of International Relations, said during a panel discussion held as part of WUF13 in Baku.
According to Report, he recalled that his grandfather had owned a house in Shusha.
"In the 1930s, the Soviet authorities confiscated this house and used it as an orphanage. During the period of Armenian occupation, the house was completely destroyed. When I traveled to Shusha after the war, I saw only a pile of stones where the house had once stood," Shafiyev said.
