Preparations for the presidential elections in Azerbaijan have been carried out at the highest level, and the organization is very good, Secretary General of the CIS IPA Council Dmitry Kobitsky told journalists, Report informs.
“In Azerbaijan, the elections fully comply with all democratic norms, all standards. And I can say that preparations for the election campaign in Azerbaijan were carried out at a high level. This was confirmed by meetings with candidates and with the organizers of the election process, including with the Central Election Commission. We also held meetings at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Parliament. Therefore, we can definitely conclude now that the country is well prepared for the elections,” he said.
Kobitsky emphasized that it has been 30 years this year that the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly has been observing elections: “This year we are celebrating such an anniversary. In order to make the observation more objective and more understandable for all participants in the process, in 2006, the decision was adopted to create the International Institute for Monitoring the Development of Democracy. It was made here, in Baku, in 2005.”
