Russian political scientist: Pashinyan seeks to maintain illusion of conflict in order to receive more military aid

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is blocking the possibility of signing a peace treaty, Russian political scientist Sergei Markov told journalists, Report informs.

He pointed out the need to change the Armenian constitution in order to exclude any territorial claims against Azerbaijan, but even this process, according to the political scientist, is being artificially delayed.

"Pashinyan has decided not to amend the constitution now, but to postpone it until 2027, which is, of course, sabotage," the political scientist said.

Markov believes that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is also seeking to maintain the illusion of a conflict in the region in order to receive more military aid.

"This is necessary, among other things, in order to pull military missions here, to the South Caucasus region, so that he [Pashinyan] is given more weapons, and bases of Western countries, primarily France and the US, are created," he said.

In his opinion, Yerevan is trying to destabilize the South Caucasus region.

"This forces all countries in the region: Azerbaijan, Russia, Türkiye, Iran and even, perhaps, Georgia, to unite in order to block the absolutely destructive role of Armenia," the political scientist added.

Markov also emphasized that the OSCE Minsk Group continues to support separatism in Azerbaijan: "This is a political corpse. Of course, the Minsk Group must be abolished," he concluded.
