President Ilham Aliyev approves amendments to law on combating corruption

Amendments have been made to the legislation of Azerbaijan, according to which it is prohibited to threaten, exert pressure, cause material or moral damage, insult and threaten, humiliate the honor or dignity of a person reporting offenses related to corruption, or their close relatives, Report informs.

President Ilham Aliyev has approved the relevant amendments to the Law "On the Fight against Corruption."

Thus, penalties, termination of an employment contract, dismissal from a position, transfer to another job, illegal deductions from wages, active or passive obstruction of promotion or reward, negative characteristics and other similar measures for the purpose of direct or indirect revenge for providing such information cannot be applied to an employee who reported сorruption-related offenses.

The head of the body must also ensure compliance with these requirements within the relevant organization; violation of the requirements of this article will entail liability.

A person who claims to have been subjected to actions prohibited by law may appeal to a higher official according to jurisdiction and to the court to restore violated rights.
