President reveals plans to build line via Zangazur corridor to Nakhchivan, then to Turkey, Iran

"We are now planning to build a new line from Azerbaijan to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic via the Zangazur corridor and then to Turkey and Iran. The Zangazur corridor will play a role not only for railways, highways, and air transport but also for the export of energy. It will be a new line to supply electricity to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, an integral part of Azerbaijan, and from there to foreign markets, and after Turkey to Europe," President Ilham Aliyev told AZERTAC, Report informs.

"One line passes through Georgia-Turkey, and the second line must pass through there. We are working on this, and our growing exports will increase our importance - our geopolitical significance, as well as bring us additional currency. We will gain currency not only from oil and gas but also from electricity, and our country will live more prosperously. Therefore, all these projects are in our plans. Today's opening ceremony once again shows our strength and will. It shows that we are successfully fulfilling all the tasks before us," the head of state said.
