Ombudsman prepares Report on facts of torture of Azerbaijani servicemen by Armenian armed forces

The Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of Azerbaijan, Ms. Sabina Aliyeva continues to inform the world community about the violations of international law and humanitarian law committed by the State of Armenian and its armed forces, Report informs, citing the ombudsman's office.

The Ombudsman prepared a report based on the materials obtained as a result of the collection and analysis of relevant evidence and proof within her mandate.

The report provides visual evidence of torture, inhuman and degrading treatment of Azerbaijani soldiers and servicemen captured by the Armenian armed forces during the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

The report includes not only facts of torture, inhuman and degrading treatment of captured servicemen but also factual evidence of mass burial of corpses of Azerbaijani servicemen for the purpose of concealing the facts of humiliation, mistreatment, and acts of vandalism and torture applied on the dead bodies.

The report called on international organizations to take serious measures to bring Armenia to justice for its war crimes, and crimes against peace and humanity in gross violation of international law, and international humanitarian law.

The report was sent to international organizations, ombudsmen of foreign countries, as well as other international organizations working on protecting and promoting human rights.

Due to the fact that the report contains confidential information (photographs), as well as difficult scenes that can have a profound effect on human psychology, it is not made public.
