The liberated territories of the Karabakh economic region include Agdam, Fuzuli, Khojavend, Tartar, and Khojaly districts. The total area of the mentioned regions is 6,244 square kilometers, and the total number of internally displaced persons in those districts is 275,552 people. Of course, the first stage of reconstruction and restoration processes is the preparation of general and master plans to determine the directions of development of the region and cities. The master plans of Agdam and Fuzuli cities have already been fully approved, and the master plans of Sugovushan and Hadrut settlements have been completed, Emin Huseynov, the Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the liberated territories of the Karabakh Economic Region (except Shusha district), said during a speech at the "Revival of Aghdam" event,Report informs.
“One of the main problems we face during the reconstruction and restoration work in Karabakh is the contamination of the territories with mines. I would like to inform you that after the Tripartite Statement dated November 10, 2020, more than 300 Azerbaijani citizens have been killed or seriously injured as a result of Armenia's mine terrorism. However, despite all the difficulties we face in this direction, 18.1% of the liberated territories in the Karabakh economic region, i.e. 42,635 hectares, have been cleared of mines and other unexploded ordnance, and we continue demining operations on a full scale. To date, 61,163 mines and unexploded ordnance have been found in these areas. Demining work is carried out by ANAMA, relevant units of the Ministry of Defense, the State Border Service, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, as well as private companies,” the Special Representative added.
