Museum of Mountain Jews in Azerbaijan's Guba hosts exhibition honoring Krasnaya Sloboda's 290th anniversary

The Museum of Mountain Jews in Guba hosted a remarkable exhibition commemorating the 290th anniversary of the founding of Krasnaya Sloboda, a historic settlement in the Guba district. The event, organized by the Heritage Center of Mountain Jews, showcased the rich history and cultural heritage of this unique community.

The exhibition was graced by the presence of esteemed guests, including Farid Gayibov, the Minister of Youth and Sports, and Ilgar Mahmudov, the head of the Executive Authority of the Guba district. Representatives from the Jewish community of Krasnaya Sloboda and officials from the Executive Authority also attended the event.

Krasnaya Sloboda, which translates to "Red Settlement," was established in 1731 and has since been a hub for the Mountain Jewish community in Azerbaijan. The settlement has preserved its distinct identity, traditions, and way of life.
