MP warns some language-learning platforms contain harmful content for children

Content on some foreign language learning platforms includes materials and questions that may be dangerous for children, MP Azer Allahveranov said during public hearings on "Digital safety of children and protection from harmful addictions," organized by the National NGO Forum of Azerbaijan.

According to Report, he said that under the guise of teaching English, children are sometimes given strange and suggestive tasks whose content contradicts moral and family values.

The lawmaker added that aggressive behavior observed among children is partly linked to the influence of such social platforms.

"Cybercriminal groups are trying to involve children in their sphere of influence through games like Blue Whale. This problem exists not only in Azerbaijan but worldwide. There are companies and groups attempting to use children for criminal purposes. We are seeing cases such as data theft, gaining access to bank accounts, and interference with bank cards through children's phones. These incidents have already reached a serious scale," he said.

Allahveranov stressed the need both to improve digital literacy and to introduce certain restrictions.
