Memorial.az website, “Commemoration Book” presented in Baku

Presentation of memorial.az website and “Commemoration Book” took place in Baku on September 28 in connection with the anniversary of the Patriotic War, Report informs.

The event was attended by Deputy Head of the Department for Work with Non-Governmental Organizations and Communications of the Presidential Administration Saadat Yusifova, Chairman of the Board of the Center for Social Research, MP Zahid Oruj, editor-in-chief of memorial.az website Vusal Mammadov, representatives of the Defense Ministry, prominent media representatives, members of families of martyrs, and other officials.

Yusifova noted that the topic of martyrs has always been sacred for the Azerbaijani people. She said that during the Patriotic War and after it, various resources and media outlets published information about martyrs: “This information is of great interest in society, but it is unsystematic. One of the main goals of creating the memorial.az website is to systematize history, combine detailed information about each of Azerbaijani heroes in a single website.”

Editor-in-chief of the website, Vusal Mammadov, informed the participants of the event about the new website. “Information about the martyrs will be additionally specified and systematized,” he said.

Oruj emphasized in his speech that the creation of the “Commemoration Book” and memorial.az website on the anniversary of the Patriotic War is an important event in terms of history and the passing of information about Azerbaijani martyrs to the next generations: “2,907 martyrs and 7 missing are the selected children of our people, from colonel to soldier.”
