Lithuanian journalist: Black January - symbol of struggle for freedom & independence

Black January went down in history as a symbol of the struggle for the freedom and independence of Azerbaijan, said Lithuanian military journalist Ricardas Lapaitis, who once covered the First Karabakh War, Report informs.

“This day can be safely called the beginning of the collapse of the USSR. In one night, 147 civilians were brutally killed, more than 744 were seriously injured, 841 people were arrested, they were subjected to torture and violence,” he said. "But the perpetrators of the terrible atrocities, who shed blood on the streets of Baku, were not punished."
