Hikmat Hajiyev: Armenian mines function as weapons of mass destruction

Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan - Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmat Hajiyev stated that the mines planted by Armenia carry the function of a weapon of mass destruction, Report informs.

"The Terror of Landmines in Azerbaijan Persists," Hikmat Hajiyev wrote in a post on X.

"Since 2020, nearly 400 Azerbaijani citizens have fallen victim to landmine explosions. These mines were deliberately and extensively planted by Armenia during its occupation of Azerbaijani territories. In many cases, the mines were laid without any military necessity—solely to target civilians and deliberately delay the safe return of displaced populations to their ancestral lands. In this context, landmines function as weapons of mass destruction and pose a serious threat."
