Head of CIS Observer Mission: All conditions for election monitoring created in Azerbaijan

The head of the CIS observer mission Leonid Anfimov said the Azerbaijani authorities have created all the conditions for international observers to monitor the snap parliamentary elections, Report informs.

He noted at a press conference on September 2 that the mission, consisting of 33 observers, has been monitoring the elections since August 13 in accordance with the principle of non-interference in the electoral process.

"During the monitoring, the CIS observers discussed the course of the election campaign with the Central Election Commission, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Supreme Court and other government agencies. They also met with candidates. All the necessary conditions for international observation of the elections have been created in the republic," Anfimov noted.

He especially highlighted the work of the Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan and the professionalism of the members of the polling stations.

He added that the members of the mission participating in the meetings of the Central Election Commission note its transparency and openness.

"I would like to congratulate the Azerbaijani people on the completion of the parliamentary election campaign. I hope that the new parliament will make every effort for prosperity," he concluded.
