"The territorial integrity of the three independent nations of the South Caucasus - Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia - is the future of the regional peace," Farid Shafiyev, chairman of the International Relations Analysis Center (AIR Center), told a conference of the Rondeli Foundation in Tbilisi, Report’s local bureau informs.
According to him, if Europe’s post-WWII experience is looked into, one can see that the issue of territorial integrity is the foundation of European security: “Another important point is the protection of minorities. At this point, we mean the Karabakh Armenians. We are thinking about their reintegration into Azerbaijani society and we are ready for it."
Farid Shafiyev noted that Azerbaijan also wants to raise the issue of Azerbaijanis living in Armenia: “If Armenians live in Azerbaijan, we believe that Azerbaijanis will be able to live in Armenia as before. In general, the future peace in the region depends on the restoration of the ethnic mosaic that once existed in the South Caucasus."
