Baku. 28 December. REPORT.AZ/ Azerbaijan has unveiled plans to introduce driverless buses in passenger transportation in the country, specifically in Baku, by 2023, in line with the State Program “On Road Traffic Safety in the Republic of Azerbaijan” for 2019-2023.
The respective government agencies were instructed to work on improvement of legislation and other legal organizational issues in 2019-2023 for the use of driverless public transport as well as designation of pilot territories for entertainment and tourism purposes and organization of the movement of those vehicles.
The main works envisaged in the state program approved by President Ilham Aliyev are performed by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies. The Ministry of Internal Affairs, ministry of economy, Baku Transport Agency, Azerbaijan State Motor Road Agency are listed among other executive bodies.
