Coordinator of observers from CIS IPA: Elections in Azerbaijan held in line with democratic principles

The early parliamentary elections held in Azerbaijan on September 1 were in line with democratic principles, coordinator of the CIS IPA observer group Andrey Yatskin said, Report informs.

"Based on the monitoring, we came to the conclusion that the parliamentary elections, which were held for the first time throughout the territory of Azerbaijan, were in line with democratic principles, the electoral legislation and the Constitution of the country," he noted.

He added that 40 observers from six CIS countries monitored the elections.

Yatskin added that the organization's representatives monitored the elections at 145 polling stations, emphasizing that the necessary conditions for holding active and transparent elections were created there.

"All candidates were provided with equal opportunities," Yatskin said.

He especially emphasized that international and local observers were provided with conditions for monitoring within the legislation of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
