Chairman of Azerbaijan's CEC meets with CIS delegation

Mazahir Panahov, the Chairman of Azerbaijan's Central Election Commission (CEC), met with a delegation from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) on August 13, Report informs, citing the CEC.

The meeting, which took place in Baku, was aimed at discussing the upcoming parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan.

The CIS delegation, led by Deputy Secretary-General Nurlan Seytimov, arrived in Azerbaijan to observe the electoral process.

During the meeting, Chairman Panahov emphasized the CEC's dedication to transparency and openness to cooperation. He noted that the CEC values mutually beneficial relationships with international organizations and plans to continue and further deepen these relations.

Panahov announced that these elections will be the first to be held across all sovereign territories of Azerbaijan.

The CEC Chairman provided detailed information about the operational principles of election commissions, large-scale educational projects for various election participants, steps taken to refine voter lists, and final preparatory work for the elections.

He also answered the questions of international observers.

Deputy Secretary-General Seytimov expressed gratitude for the comprehensive information and the warm reception. He confirmed that CIS long-term observers have already begun their activities, closely monitoring election preparations in Baku and the regions.

The CIS official expressed confidence that the parliamentary elections would be conducted freely, fairly, and transparently, in accordance with legislative requirements. He added that these elections would contribute to Azerbaijan's future development.

Within the framework of the meeting, opinions were also exchanged on other issues of mutual interest.
