Belarusian MP: 'Friendship between presidents - example of strong relations between our countries'

No violations were found at any polling station during the snap parliamentary elections held in Azerbaijan, Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Sergey Khomenko said at a press conference on September 2, Report informs.

He emphasized that the elections were held in a democratic atmosphere.

"You can talk a lot and quote different words about democracy, but it should definitely be noted that voters had the widest choice in Azerbaijan," the Belarusian parliamentarian said.

Khomenko noted that he and other observers visited all polling stations in Fuzuli, Shusha and Khankandi: "I have visited Azerbaijan many times and am aware of the 'highest legal regime.'

Therefore, there was a need to see how the election process is organized in a country that is recovering from military actions."

The representative of Belarus noted the high activity of citizens who came to vote with their families at polling stations.

Khomenko expressed hope that close relations will be maintained between the formed parliaments of Azerbaijan and Belarus: "An example of strong relations and strong friendship between our countries is the friendship of presidents who are always ready to help each other."

In conclusion, Khomenko noted that his country honors and remembers the Azerbaijani heroes who died for the liberation of Belarus during World War II.
