Baku, the capital city of Azerbaijan, witnessed a significant conference today titled "Strengthening the Work of Gender Commissions in Municipalities" Report informs.
The event, organized by the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs of Azerbaijan, aimed to discuss the organization of commissions' work in municipalities, the formation of gender relations in families, the prevention of gender-based violence, and to analyze the current situation and exchange ideas in this field.
Sadagat Gahramanova, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Family, Women, and Children Affairs of Azerbaijan, emphasized the need for accessibility to ensure the ease of commissions' work and proper public information. She stated, "Social-oriented laws are adopted to serve society. Our main goal is to convey the essence of these laws to people by organizing events and conferences."
In particular, Rana Valiyeva, Deputy Head of Sabunchu District Executive Power, spoke about the services provided to citizens. "In the last 11 months, 64 families' domestic issues were discussed in 10 municipalities. These issues included school dropout, restoration of civil rights, and advisory talks," she noted.
Leyla Mammadova, Deputy Chairman of Nizami Municipality in Ganja city and Head of the Gender Commission discussed the services that can be provided on gender issues.
She revealed that 16 young women who were subjected to domestic violence in Ganja were provided with free doctor and psychologist support, and training sessions were held with heads of kindergartens. However, Mammadova emphasized the importance of continuity in these activities and the need for financial and power support.
The conference continued with discussions around the topic.
