Azerbaijani president approves higher fines for tobacco waste disposal

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has approved a significant increase in fines for disposing of tobacco waste in the environment.

According to Report, the head of state signed a decree amending the Code of Administrative Offenses.

The fine for discarding cigarette butts and other tobacco waste has been raised from 50 manats ($29.41) to 300 manats ($176.47). Repeated violations within a year will incur a fine of 700 manats ($411.76) or community service for 60 to 100 hours.
