Azerbaijani party chair credits unity between government and political parties

"During the 44-day war, political parties showed considerable solidarity and contributed to national unity," chairman of the Unity Party, MP Tahir Karimli opined, Report says.

According to him, during the war, political parties made several statements on the Armenian aggression: “The political party I lead also issued over 40 appeals and statements in foreign languages about Armenia’s vandalism. During the war, the joint statements of the parties were of special importance. Seeing the unity of our people and political parties, the Azerbaijani Army united more closely around the Supreme Commander-in-Chief and broke the enemy's back. Tahir Karimli said that political parties operating in Azerbaijan since the first day of the Patriotic War united around the Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev and spoke from a single nationwide position.”

As soon as the Patriotic War started, many political parties in Azerbaijan assessed their activities differently. In the difficult for the state days, they supported the government by demonstrating political unity for the sake of the future of our country and for the restoration of our territorial integrity, putting the interests of the state above all else. In all the adopted statements, the political parties unanimously supported and expressed their support for all political and military measures by Supreme Commander-in-Chief, President Ilham Aliyev to protect the territorial integrity and security of our citizens, to prevent large-scale terrorist provocations of Armenia against our country.

The party chairman stressed that the only goal of all political forces is to support the development of our country at a higher level and take an active part in this process: “Political reforms in Azerbaijan that serve national solidarity and healthy dialogue have led to important innovations. At present, our country is experiencing a period of national interests. As a result of the dialogue between the government and the opposition in the country, most political parties have formed healthy relations with both the government and each other, and a common position has been formed on national issues. It should be noted that the atmosphere of political dialogue in the country during the 44-day war allowed most political organizations, leading civil society institutions, intellectuals and public activists to unite around the basic principles of the state.”

Tahir Karimli noted that the liberation of our lands from enemy occupation with minimum losses in 44 days gave great joy and pride to Azerbaijani people: “Azerbaijan's territorial integrity has already been restored. As a result of the Patriotic War, Armenia's policy of aggression was put to an end. The whole world witnessed the glorious victory of Azerbaijan due to the courage and bravery of our heroic servicemen and the blood of our martyrs. Despite regular pressure and threats from various quarters, Azerbaijan has won its war for justice. Thanks to this victory, myths such as "Armenia has a strong army" and so on was ended once and for all. Today, the political parties operating in Azerbaijan are with the Azerbaijani government on national issues, as in the 44-day war.”
