Azerbaijani Ombudswoman, CoE official mull gender equality, human rights

Azerbaijani Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudswoman) Sabina Aliyeva received Director of the Office of the Directorate General of Programs of the Council of Europe Verena Taylor.

Report informs that the head of the Baku office of the Council of Europe, Zoltan Hernyes, also took part in the meeting.

A number of important issues were discussed at the meeting, in particular, they talked about gender equality, protection of women's rights, combating domestic violence, and also emphasized the importance of education in this area.

Sabina Aliyeva emphasized the need for joint cooperation in the field of providing material, moral and psychological assistance to families subjected to violence, studying and applying international experience in combating domestic violence, preparing certain teaching aids.

In conclusion, an exchange of views took place on expanding cooperation between the Ombudsman Institute and the Council of Europe.
