Azerbaijani Ombudsperson visits arrested Armenian football players

Azerbaijan’s Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsperson) Sabina Aliyeva has visited the arrested Armenian football players, Report informs.

The goal was to familiarize with the conditions of their detention, treatment and ensuring the rights of persons arrested under administrative procedure.

As part of the meeting, which was also attended by doctors and psychologists of the National Preventive Group, three people were received - Alen Sargsyan, Vahe Hovsepyan and Levon Grigoryan, who were detained at the Lachin border checkpoint and administratively arrested for 10 days.

During a confidential reception, the Ombudsperson got acquainted with the state of ensuring the rights of these persons in accordance with international and national legislation and heard their appeals. An inspection of the place of their detention and walks was also carried out, it was established that the conditions of detention correspond to the standards.

The accepted persons expressed their satisfaction with the conditions of detention, their treatment, food, as well as medical and psychological assistance. During the visit, the arrested also had a telephone conversation with their families.
