Azerbaijan launches monitoring in area where Russian peacekeers are temporarily stationed

Azerbaijan is launching preliminary monitoring to investigate the illegal exploitation of mineral deposits in the areas where the Russian peacekeepers are temporarily stationed and the related environmental consequences.

Report informs, citing the joint statement of the Ministries of Economy, and Ecology and Natural Resources, that by the results of discussions held with the command of the Russian peacekeeping contingent on December 3 and 7, 2022, from December 10, specialists from the Ministries of Economy, Ecology and Natural Resources, the State Property Service under the Ministry of Economy and AzerGold CJSC began monitoring the illegal exploitation of mineral deposits in the area of temporary deployment of Russian peacekeeping forces and related environmental consequences.

As part of the monitoring, it is planned to inspect mineral deposits, in particular, the Gyzylbulag gold deposit and the Damirli copper-molybdenum deposit.
