Azerbaijan flag enters Guinness World Records for its size

The giant tricolor flag hoisted at the State Flag Square in Baku, Azerbaijan has been officially recognized by the Guinness World Records for its awe-inspiring size, Afsana Mehdiyeva, the Head of the Press Service of the Seaside Boulevard Department, told Report.

According to Mehdiyeva, the State Flag Square previously held the record for the tallest flagpole before undergoing renovations. "The current certification pertains to the dimensions of the flag now flying at the State Flag Square. The flag measures an impressive 36 meters in width and 72 meters in length, with a total weight exceeding 500 kilograms. The official entry into the Guinness World Records was finalized just two days ago," she revealed.

On November 8, Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev, First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, and their son Heydar Aliyev visited the State Flag Square in Baku, where the President personally raised the country's colossal tricolor flag. This monumental flag serves as a powerful symbol of Azerbaijan's national pride and identity.
