“During Soviet times, I had many friends among Azerbaijanis, as I worked in the regional Komsomol committee. I was always glad about them,” Robert Khachaturyan, a Karabakh resident of Armenian origin, told Report’s employee sent to Lachin.
He noted that he was born in Baku: “I lived in Baku, later settled in Khankandi. In 1966, I was appointed to Khankandi as secretary of the Komsomol committee. From that time on, I lived in Khankandi with my family.”
Khachaturyan stated that he no longer intends to return to Khankandi, since his family is currently in Yerevan: “President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has made it clear that whoever wants can stay in Khankandi.”
