Armed conflicts in various parts of the world are having a detrimental effect on women's rights, said Aydin Safikhanli, the head of the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of Azerbaijan.
According to Report, speaking at the 10th plenary session of the OSCE Conference on the Human Dimension, which focused on eliminating violence against women and ensuring gender equality, Safikhanli emphasized that Armenia's policy of occupation and ethnic cleansing against Azerbaijan has led to gross violations of women's rights.
"During the First Karabakh War, around 4,000 Azerbaijanis went missing, including 267 women," he stated. "The shelling of densely populated cities and other settlements in Azerbaijan during the Second Karabakh War resulted in numerous civilian casualties, including women and children."
