A website about Khojaly facts has been launched in the Netherlands, Ilkane Goja, the founder and co-chairperson of the Together Strong Foundation operating in the Netherlands, told a press conference held in Baku on July 21, Report informs.
She said that the website, which is currently operating in Dutch, will be translated into English soon: “Although 30 years have passed since the Khojaly tragedy, very few people in the Netherlands know about this genocide. Our goal in creating the website was to prevent Armenians from trying to release the photos taken during the Khojaly tragedy in their name. We have held two meetings in the Dutch parliament and we regularly hold negotiations for the recognition of the Khojaly tragedy. Recently, we have planned a meeting with representatives of the parliament.”
According to her, a book about the Khojaly genocide was published in the Netherlands: “The book was translated into Dutch and edited by my husband Robert van den Berg. His editing of this book greatly supported the publication of the truths about the Khojaly Genocide in a way that is compatible with Dutch psychology and in a form that they can understand more clearly.”
Robert van den Berg said that the site publishes books, articles and new information about the Khojaly massacre: “We are doing it alone and need help with this issue. When I read the Khojaly Genocide translations for editing, I was horrified and every time I felt bad. Since such a tragedy did not occur in my country, I cannot deeply understand the people of Azerbaijan. However, I think that the whole world should be aware of such brutality.”
The couple, who said they have more plans for the self-funded website, also said they would like to work with Azerbaijani historians to develop more detailed information on the Khojaly tragedy.
