Washington hosts meeting of Azerbaijani community in US

Fuad Muradov, Chairman of the State Committee for Work with the Diaspora of Azerbaijan, met with activists of the Azerbaijani diaspora in the United States, Report informs.

The meeting began with the national anthems of Azerbaijan and the US, followed by a minute’s silence in memory of Azerbaijani martyrs who died for the country’s territorial integrity.

Fuad Muradov spoke about the large-scale projects carried out by the Committee in recent years and highlighted the tasks set by President Ilham Aliyev at the 5th Congress of World Azerbaijanis.

He emphasized that Azerbaijanis worldwide, including those in the US, have shown loyalty to the ideology of Azerbaijaniism, actively participated in the information warfare, and increased the influence of the diaspora owing to their effective activities.

The meeting participants exchanged ideas and discussed future prospects. Various videos showcasing the work done by the Committee and the diaspora were also shown.

At the end of the meeting, several community members were presented with medals. The “100th Anniversary of Heydar Aliyev (1923-2023)” jubilee medal was awarded to Parvin Muradova, Chair of Education and Culture Committee at Azerbaijani-American Cultural Association of Florida. The “Service in Diaspora” medals were awarded to Samir Novruzov, head of the USA-Azerbaijan Integration Center (USACI), Rena Abbasova, an active member of the Azerbaijani community in the US and co-founder of the United States Azerbaijani Network (USAN), and diaspora activist Badir Mammadli.

The awarded community members expressed their gratitude to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, and emphasized their commitment to continuing their efforts to convey the true voice of Azerbaijan to the world community, protect national interests, and strengthen diaspora activities.
