US delegation visits Ukraine at invitation of Azerbaijani official

A 25-member delegation, including New York City Senator James Skoufis, Queens Borough President Donovan Richards, New York State Assembly members Steven Cymbrowitz, Kevin A. Cahill, Peter J. Abbate Jr., Charles Fall, Latoya Joyner, New York City Council members Marjorie Velazquez, Shaun Abre, and a well-known philanthropist Aaron Grunfeld and others have visited Kyiv, Report informs.

The visit took place at the invitation and organization of the President of the Assembly of Nationalities of Ukraine, Chairman of the United Ukrainian Azerbaijanis Congress (BUAK), Co-Chair of the World Assembly of Diasporas in the United States, Rovshan Taghiyev, and the Assembly's other Co-Chair Leonid Bard.

During the visit, the US delegation met with members of the Verkhovna Rada (Parliament) Yelyzaveta Yasko, Dmytro Lubinets, Serhiy Taruta, Zhan Beleniuk and Lyudmila Burmister, Kyiv MP Vladislav Trubitsyn, Metropolitan Epiphanius of Kyiv and All Ukraine, well-known politician Georgii Logvynskyi, President of the Ukrainian Football Association (UFA) Andriy Pavelko, UFA Vice President Vadim Kostyuchenko, an official from the National Reforms Council under the Office of the President of Ukraine, and the Israeli Ambassador to Ukraine Michael Brodsky.

The guests also met with the Chief Rabbi of Ukraine and Kyiv Moshe Revuen Asman.

The delegation met with Ekaterina Nizhnaya-Pavlova from the regional administration in Chernobyl and attended a joint ceremony with the presidents of Ukraine, Germany and Israel on the anniversary of the Babyn Yar massacre. During the meetings, the activity of various ethnicities in Ukraine, including Azerbaijanis, around the Assembly was especially noted. Rovshan Taghiyev thanked Israel, the United States and Ukraine for their support in restoring Azerbaijan's territorial integrity.
