Rada of Azerbaijanis of Ukraine demands immediate release of captured soldiers

The fact of torture of Azerbaijani soldiers captured by Armenia caused great anger in the Azerbaijani community living in Ukraine, Report informs, citing the State Committee on Work with Diaspora.

In the statement addressed to international organizations on behalf of the Rada of Azerbaijanis of Ukraine, attention was drawn to the inhumane treatment of Azerbaijani Army soldiers in Armenia - Babirov Agshin Gabil born in 2004 and Akhundov Huseyn Ahliman born in 2003. This act of vandalism was assessed as a gross violation of international humanitarian laws by Armenia.

It was once again pointed out that it is important for relevant international organizations to investigate not only this criminal incident but also the acts of violence used by Armenia against 3,890 Azerbaijanis who went missing over the past 30 years and give a legal assessment to that and the failure of Armenia to fulfill its obligations under major international acts, including the Geneva Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment.

The Rada of Azerbaijanis of Ukraine demanded from international organizations to investigate the fact of violence, give a proper legal assessment to it, and release the Azerbaijani servicemen immediately and unconditionally.
